Izzy McEvoy
Izzy McEvoy is an artist and artist facilitator based in London.
Working across moving image, installation, costume, sound, writing and performance, she is currently making a body of work with women who work in positions of care and guidance. Her particular interest lies in women who facilitate transformative experiences for others, those working as guides and mediators between different worlds, circumventing the mainstream medical networks of therapy and healing.
Guides is a series of short films, fabric works and recorded conversations which she started in 2019 by interviewing her mother’s undertaker, Tracey Meakin.
Understanding Tracey’s work as a way of undermining or disrupting the ways we perceive the finite and contained nature of corporeal life coupled with an interest in psychedelia and consciousness, she has subsequently worked with End-of-Life Doulas and a Shamanic Counsellor and Psilocybin Facilitator. She is currently working with a Horse-Assisted therapist where the horses also assume the role of guides.
